TORONTO - Yesterday evening, Cirque du Soliel’s blown-up version of Alegria arrived in Toronto and impressed a crowd of 6,500 at the Air Canada Centre downtown.
The performers even interacted with the floor audience on a number of occasions. This was my first time going to see a Cirque show and I was told by family and close friends that “each show was unique and astonishing in it’s own way”. They were more than right!
The mix of breath-taking acrobatics and flavourful comedy wowed the whole area. It was truly a “Miracle of a show” as Torontonian Aundreya Thompson put it. Thompson stated “My favorite part of the show was when my friend said “Whoa, that's a bone?!” during an acrobatics performance.
Past Alegria performances have been held in tents in the docks area of Toronto. It is a big change for these artists to come to an enormous arena and showcase their talent.
Through the singing, dancing, professional gymnastics and comedy, Cirque du Soliel has sold me for life on their product. It is truly amazing to see what the human body can do. It is also amazing to hear almost 6,500 people laughing all at one time.
Overall, the Cirque Experience was something astonishing, just as my friends and family had put it. One thing that everyone should have on their bucket list is to see a Cirque show. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.
