    About Us

Started in 2008, as Weekend News Today, Felice News is a Toronto, Canada based not-for-profit news organization, catering to the world’s citizens, who are tired of the negative news that the traditional press report.  We have reporters on every continent (Yes, that includes Antarctica!).  All of our reporters are aged 12-25, in a mission to get more youth involved in world affairs, and occupy their time to ensure that they are not becoming involved with the wrong crowds.  Our founder is only a mere 14 years old.  In Italian, the Word 'Felice' translates to 'Happy' in english.  As we report purely positive news, this name fits us perfectly!

    Media Coverage

"This is a young kid who is out there to change the world, and cares so much about the world, and yet he’s so young.  It’s just inspiring. So many older people just don’t even care or are really indifferent, and he’s out there making his voice be heard, and yet he’s only 12!"

    -Jakarta Globe
"He has already distinguished himself as a child prodigy, working on Barack Obama's presidential campaign and holding candlelight vigils for American Journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee, who were held captive for several months in a North Korean prison camp until their dramatic release at the beginning of August."

    -Joe Vass (Canadian YouTube Sensation)
"This might be why there is a new wave of organisations online that only report good news. Take a look at felicenews.com, started by a twelve year old, for example, and you learn nothing about suicide bombs but you can about things such as Aung Sang Suu Kyi's Release or an article like "Missing Dog Turns Up On Porch After Five Years"."

    The Evolution of Felice News

    2008 - The Inspiration

In late 2008, NBC's Today Show aired a montage of their entire year of reporting.  Felice's founder, Max Jones was watching from his home in Orlando, Florida & had a revelation.  Max saw the Today anchors traveling all over the world & interviewing important figures.  Max thought "Wow... they are literally writing the first rough draft of history."  Max knew he'd make his career choice, but then started to research the media.  He found that the news was overwhelmingly negative & wanted to make a change.  Weekend News Today was born...

2009 - Weekend News Today with Max & Kendall

On January 4, 2009, Max Jones launched www.WNTLive.com, to air weekly broadcasts of The Weekend News Today Show.  Max taught himself how to build & a publish a website, then learned how to produce a show.  He recruited a school friend, Kendall Gray, to join him as co-anchor of the 15 minute show.  After purchasing a $200 camcorder with his birthday money, Weekend News Today's first show was on April 3, 2009 in Max's walk-in closet, which he made into a green screen.  Felice's current day book club, which now has more than 10,000 members, was founded in the first show.  See the first Weekend News Today Show.

2009 - WNT goes LIVE & gets a real studio

After two broadcasts in Max's bedroom closet, he gained access to green screen technology that allowed him to have a real studio.  Broadcasts began with Max & a list of guest anchors on April 22, 2009.  Something special about shows from here on in was that they were all live.  Shows continued until late May & eventually went on summer hiatus.  At this time, WNT's budget was $0 - all produced for not a dime, under Max's supervision.  After these series of shows, WNT went solely to the web.  In the remainder of 2009, some special reporters were made live, like the launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis, for example...

2010 - Vancouver Olympics Morning Show

In February, 2010, WNT's Max Jones & Lillian Wu headed to the Vancouver 2010 Olympics to host a morning show entitled Your Olympics.  The entire trip was planned by Max in two months because of a delay in accreditation.  Your Olympics had over 500,000 viewers during the games & operated on a sub-$5000 budget.  Your Olympics included exclusive interviews & discussions with Canadian medalists, politicians and locals, such as Olympian Joannie Rochette, British Columbia premier Gordon Campbell, and performer Nelly Furtado.

    2010-2012 - Name Change & Extended Coverage

In May, 2010, WNT's name was changed to Felice News to better exemplify the  nature of the site's all-positive brand.  A new site design was also released with loads of new content.  After the name change, a whirlwind of new stories were covered, including the G20 & G8 summits in Canada, where Max Jones spoke with President Obama and later joined Queen Elizabeth II for her 2010 tour through Canada.  Later in the year, Felice News' Burmese correspondent covered the release of Aung San Suu Kyi among many other stories by Felice's worldwide Youth Reporters.  In 2011, a bevy of other stories were covered, including the UK Royal Wedding.  Founder Max Jones also traveled to Asia to cover some very interesting positive & uplifting stories of resilience on the China-North Korea.  In September, 2011, Felice went to New York to cover the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.
